phrase translation into Feanorian alphabet?

Lalaith405 #4403

I don't know if this is a good place to request this but was hoping someone would be willing to put a phrase into Feanorian characters for me? I want a sign that says "No whining!" preferably translated into Sindarin, Telerin, or Noldorin, but if that doesn't translate well, perhaps a phonetic english equivalent in Feanorian characters or maybe both?

And unrelated, would someone be able to properly phonetically spell my kids' names in Feanorian characters? Luke and Lucy?

I'm new to this site and certainly don't understand language as you all do! Perhaps this is not the right forum to request this. Hope it's okay. Lalaith405

Mae govannen!

In Sindarin, "No whining!" would translate to Avo muio! or "Do not whine!" We do not have an attested Telerin word for "whine", and I'm not confident enough in my Noldorin abilities to advise you on that front.

However, the Fëanorians would have spoken a form of Quenya before they travelled to Middle-earth. If you want a translation more historically Fëanorian, it might be á hauta miuië! (cease whining!).

I cannot help with transcriptions personally, but these websites are a good starting point: glaemscrafu.jrrvf.com and www.tecendil.com

As always, I recommend a second opinion!

Thank you so much! I'll use the Quenya form then : -) I like your suggestion very much! And both of the transcription sites are amazing resources. You're passion for keeping Tolkien's creation true to his intent and alive is such an amazing resource for all who love Arda. Thank you for what you do.
