Noldorin wife of Fingolfin who remained behind in Valinor (PM/344). In an earlier genealogy, she was a Vanyarin elf and wife of Turgon (WJ/323), but Turgon’s wife was changed to Elenwë and the name Anairë was assigned to Fingolfin’s wife. The meaning of the name is unclear, but it superficially seems to be anairë “holiest”, the superlative of airë “holy”.
