Early Primitive Elvish

A root in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s glossed “hear”, with derivatives like ᴱQ. tunqa “able to hear”, and ᴱQ. tunq- “to hear” (QL/93), the latter verb also appearing in the Early Qenya Grammar of the 1920s with the same derivation (PE14/58). In Tolkien’s later writings, ears and hearing words were generally connected to √(S)LAS.
