There are plenty of rules around compounds and there is unfortunately not a single set of rules you can reliably refer to, since even Tolkien vacillated. Study phonetic developments and existing compounds. For an example, based on Rhosgobel, we can assume rusc + gwend > *rusgwen(d) “foxgirl.”
