Tengwar!!!

So. Tengwar. A few months ago, I looked online and in Appendix F to create a form of tengwar that worked for me. I have been writing and journaling in the makeshift script for a while now, to the point where I can pretty easily decode anything in my tengwar. I thought I had it right until I tried to decode some of the stuff in the Parf. I caught on pretty easily to the vowels above the letters, but some of the other characters I couldn't puzzle out. If anyone has a tengwar chart that corresponds to the Parf and Tolkien's own writing, I would be ui hantalë.

Tengwar is well documented. Take a look at Amanye Tenceli: at.boktypografen.se

Notice how there are multiple modes of tengwar (Classic Quenya, Classic Sindarin, Classic Black Speech, Sindarin Beleriand, and English). That's because tengwar is a phonetic alphabet. If you get acquainted with the IPA, you'll be fine. There's a chart on Wikipedia with the IPA symbols in 3 modes. Some symbols have wildly different sounds depending on the modes. The mode of Beleriand, for example, uses the letter "vala" for "m", while the classical use is for "v". Tolkien has also designed a mode exclusively for English, which has symbols specific for a few common terms like "of" and "of the". Learning that won't help much in reading Beleriand mode or even classic mode Sindarin, I don't think.
