Long live the king

Hello If "cuio i pheriain anann" means may the halflings live long, would it be correct if I just change it to "cuio i aran anann" if I want to say may the king live long, or would there be a better translation for long live the king?

Hello Rebsah! Yes, that would be correct. You could also cuio i·aran anann but that is just ascetics. Means the same thing.

I will note though it is literally "Live the (pl) handlings (for) long" and the i is actually the plural in which causes nasal-mutation.

Thanks a lot Rínor. Just to make sure I understand that correctly, wouldn't i also be the singular article? In "i·arben na megil" it's translated to The Knight of the Long Sword so that would be singular.

Yes, correct i is singular. So cuio i·aran anann is "Live the king (for) long" and it would be cuio in·erain anann for plural. Live the kings (for) long plural.

And you are correct i arben na megil and “Knight of the Long Sword” is singular.

Although arben should be arphen (pl) erphin.
