Quenya translation

Niall Scott #2538

Hello, I'm new here. My girlfriend really loves lord of the rings and, for her birthday, I wanted to make her an engraved ring with the phrase "the most beautiful" in Quenya but I'm not familiar the language.

How do you write it in Tengwar?

Thank you

It's been a bit since you posted but if you haven't found your answer yet here's my thoughts

Which are her favourite elves? There are two Elvish languages and one might mean more to her than the other. If she likes "high elves" like Elrond or Galadriël, use Quenya. If she likes "Wood Elves" like Legolas, use Sindarin. (you say Quenya so forgive me if it sounds patronizing but you say you are not familiar just checking) Two translations I can think of are: ilvanya and anvanya

(il)vanya means "perfect" made from il->all/vanya>beautiful, and is cited in the lexicon here

with (an)vanya I use the intensive prefix an- meaning most. For example calimë>bright/(an)calimë> brightest (Lit. most bright), thus (an)vanya should mean "most beautiful"

One more thing is these are both general statements. if you want to say "you are the most beautiful" you just add the suffix -tyë for familiar. anvanyatyë "Lit. most beautiful You"

As for Tengwar I recommend the website Tecendil, there are different Modes with different characters and the website makes it easy, if you are writing in Quenya, use Quenya and so forth. I hope any of this helps.

edit: I'm not %100 sure but I believe you can separate the "you" in phrase making it "tyen anvanya" to correct the English reading to "you the most Beautiful"

OP has already received some help in this thread.

if you want to say "you are the most beautiful" you just add the suffix -tyë for familiar. anvanyatyë "Lit. most beautiful You"

The suffix -tye is applied to verbs to express subject, not adjectives; anvanyatye isn't a valid formation. Your opening sentence exhibits quite a few errors as well. I'd recommend working through some of the resources posted here to get acquainted with what we know of Quenya's grammar these days!
