The Early Ilkorin name "Elmir," one of the first two Men to awaken, is described as a feminine noun. The other of the first two, "Ermon," is described as a masculine noun. I noticed that until recently "Elmir" had been identified as masculine. Neither entry cites anything more than the indices of LT I and LT II.

Nothing in the text of either volume mentions their sex. I haven't come across anything anywhere else to explain the change in the gender of the noun. That one would be male and the other female makes sense, but I am interested to hear if there's some linguistic evidence to support the change?

Thanks

Tom
