rim(in)

adjective. quiet, calm, peaceful

A word appearing as rimin or rim “quiet, calm, peaceful” in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s, adjectival forms of rim “peace, quietness, calm” (GL/65).

rimp

noun. shred, slice, sliver

A noun appearing as G. rimp “shred, slice, sliver” in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s (GL/65). It was probably based on the early root ᴱ√RIPI “a rim” from the contemporaneous Qenya Lexicon; compare ᴱQ. ripta- “to cut in strips, tear up” from this same root (QL/80).

Neo-Sindarin: Since I retain the Neo-Root ᴺ√RIP with the sense “strip, stripe”, I would retain ᴺS. rimp “shred, slice, sliver” as well.

nîn

noun. pool

An archaic noun in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s glossed “pool” (GL/60), almost certainly derived from the early root ᴱ√NENE (QL/65).

raibrog

noun. zebra

The word for “zebra” in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s was raibrog or ribrog with a feminine variant raibros, a combination of G. raib “striped” and G. brog “horse” (GL/64).

Neo-Sindarin: I’d adapt this word as ᴺS. raebroch for purposes of Neo-Sindarin, using the later word S. roch for “horse”.
