Beware, older languages below! The languages below were invented during Tolkien's earlier period and should be used with caution. Remember to never, ever mix words from different languages!

Early Quenya

tarqa-

verb. to dry, preserve; to pickle

A verb appearing as ᴱQ. tarqa- “dry, preserve; pickle” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√TṚQṚ (QL/94). The verb tarq- was also mentioned (without gloss) in a list of Quenya verb forms from this same period (PE14/28).

Neo-Quenya: I would retain ᴺQ. tarqua- “dry, preserve; pickle” for purposes of Neo-Quenya based on a Neo-Root ᴺ√TARKWA, as there are no better alternatives in Tolkien’s later writings.
